I Wonder

February 27, 2010

“Wondering opens the door to the zone of the miraculous, taking you out of the zone of the known and into the field of possibility, where miracles can occur.” Reading this sentence in A Year of Living Consciously (February 26) reminded me of the “I Wonder” exercise I did a few years ago in a workshop led by Sonia Choquette, author and spiritual counselor, at a Hay House I Can Do It! Conference (www.icandoit.net). Sonia’s workshop was focused on learning how to use our intuition, and the workshop was energetic, fun, and mind-expanding. She challenged us to get out of our comfort zones, and we all loved it.

For the “I Wonder” exercise we paired up with someone we didn’t know and asked each other a series of “I wonder” questions, like “I wonder if you like licorice.” “I wonder how old you were when you had your first boyfriend.” “I wonder what sign you are.”  I remember finding it very interesting to hear what someone else wondered about me, as well as how close the other person’s response was to what I had in mind when I asked them an “I wonder” question.

Then we asked ourselves “I wonder” questions, like “I wonder how I can improve my relationship with my partner.” “I wonder what I would like to do if I changed jobs.” I found this part of the exercise helped me connect with my inner guidance, and I learned that wondering is a great tool to access our intuition; it really felt natural, which makes since when I thought about it. We spent much of our early childhood in wonderment – “I wonder why” was a common thought when we were children, but somehow we move away from wonderment as we grow older.

I appreciate Gay Hendricks reminding me about the power of “I wonder,” and that I can use it as a tool to connect to my intuition and open up new possibilities that can lead to miracles.

  1. I love this post about your experience with the “I Wonder” exercise. I will post a link on my site on Tuesday. I’ve been focusing on some of the same things lately.
