Your Heart Knows Your Best Path

March 25, 2012

Feedback I’ve received recently about people’s lives being transformed has made my heart sing. I am so excited to hear how the Heal Your Life and mind-body skills work, which I have been so inspired by, is making such huge differences in people’s lives. When I hear stories of people feeling like they have a new life from implementing the relatively easy tools I share in my workshops and coaching, I am inspired to keep following my heart and doing the work I love, which doesn’t even feel like work. Access Your Intuition with Drawings

February 18, 2012

One of my favorite mind-body skills is drawings. I have had so much fun learning and practicing this skill. I wrote about my first experience with drawings last summer when I attended The Gulf Coast Community Day sponsored by the Mind-Center of Louisiana. I have treasured the drawing I did that day and keep it in the plastic cover of my binder from the first training I attended in October. The drawing (shown in the photo) inspires me every time I look at it. Read the rest of this entry ?

Practicing Mindful Eating

January 28, 2012

I am in Washington DC attending the Center for Mind Body Medicine’s Advanced Training. I realized yesterday at lunch that I desire to practice mindful eating more often.  The realization came to me as we were beginning lunch when the facilitator invited us to offer gratitude for the meal we were about to eat, and I had already gobbled down half my plate.  I wondered in that moment why in the world I eat so fast. It has been a way of life for me as long as I remember, and I don’t enjoy almost always being the first one finished with a meal.  Read the rest of this entry ?

Pay Attention to Your Words

January 21, 2012

I attended an interesting workshop at the Baton Rouge Unity Church a few weeks ago about Effective Communication facilitated by Charles Frost.  I was surprised to learn about his belief that “Why” may be the most damaging word in the English language. Charles explained that the word “Why” often puts people on the defensive because of negative experiences they had as children. For example, they may have been asked “why did you do that?” Or they may have received responses to “why” questions like “because I said so.” He suggested replacing “Why” with “How is it possible”. Celebrate Life Every Day

January 17, 2012

I was reminded last week how critical it is to celebrate life every day and to show appreciation for all the wonderful people, places, and things we are blessed to experience in our lives. The reminder came when I attended the funeral of my cousin, Amy, who died of unknown causes suddenly last week. Amy was 39 years old, 7 years younger than me and way too young to die. I wasn’t close to Amy as an adult; however, we spent many holidays together at our grandparents’ house while we were growing up. Read the rest of this entry ?

Treasure Your Desires into the New Year

December 31, 2011

As 2012 dawns, I wish for everyone to experience more abundance, peace, love, and joy every day. I hope prosperity and peace increase for you individually, collectively through your communities, and around the world. I desire for us all to contribute more and more to making the world a better place by first creating our own inner peace, which will flow outward to everyone around us.

I was intrigued to recently learn two variations of the new year’s practice of releasing those things you desire to let go of and choosing what to bring forward into the new year. The details are different, but each variation focuses on identifying what’s working and what’s not working in your life so you can consciously create a new year filled with more joy.  I prefer this practice to simply making resolutions because I believe letting go creates the space for new possibilities and opportunities, and focusing on our intentions is the first step to bringing what we desire into our lives.  Read the rest of this entry ?

Every Day Begins Anew

December 26, 2011

With every rising of the sun
Think of your life as just begun.
- Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Before I went to sleep last night I reminded myself of the opportunity to create a better day upon my awakening. I experienced some Christmas blues yesterday and was writing about them in my journal last night when I remembered that what I focus my attention on grows. So I shifted my writing to gratitude and decided to wake up today with an attitude for a fresh start. Read the rest of this entry ?

My Fondest Holiday Memories

December 19, 2011

During a recent Branches church group meeting, we discussed the topic of holiday memories. The most predominant memories I have are from my Meme and Papa’s house (Jane and Virl) when I was growing up.  I always enjoyed spending time with my cousins, and my Meme shared her unconditional love with all of us equally. She was an amazing woman and I really miss spending holidays with her (she passed away 12 years ago). Read the rest of this entry ?

Feeling Stuck?

December 5, 2011

I have a couple of friends who are feeling really stuck in their lives right now. When I heard them explain how they felt, I told them about by Dr. James S. Gordon’s book Unstuck – Your Guide to the Seven-Stage Journey Out of Depression. I attended training in October with Dr. Gordon’s Center for Mind-Body Medicine, where I got to experience for myself some of the techniques he teaches for getting unstuck. Enjoying Holiday Downtime

November 26, 2011

This holiday weekend I am thoroughly enjoying some downtime with lots of rest and relaxation. I have savored each morning that I haven’t had to wake up to an alarm, and I really appreciate the slower pace. I’ve taken care of a few tasks that needed to be done, but at my leisure. I visited with friends and family and shared wonderful meals with them. I enjoyed writing in my journal every day, watching the LSU football game, going to see a movie, doing some shopping, and planning for my upcoming Disney trip.

Even though part of me feels like I have a million things to do, I know deep down that I really need to take it easy and relax. There are no expectations by others that I accomplish anything on this holiday weekend, so I am taking advantage of the circumstance.  The rain today has made me feel like the Universe supports my desire to slow down.

The break is refreshing.  I know my normal pace will get back in swing on Monday, so I am appreciating every moment of holiday time and looking forward to feeling renewed and refreshed next week.
