Feedback I’ve received recently about people’s lives being transformed has made my heart sing. I am so excited to hear how the Heal Your Life and mind-body skills work, which I have been so inspired by, is making such huge differences in people’s lives. When I hear stories of people feeling like they have a new life from implementing the relatively easy tools I share in my workshops and coaching, I am inspired to keep following my heart and doing the work I love, which doesn’t even feel like work. Your Heart Knows Your Best Path

Proust Questionnaire
February 16, 2012When I pick up a magazine I typically start by flipping to the last page. Content is quickly accessible that way and it usually draws me in for more reading.
Vanity Fair features the Proust Questionnaire on its back page and I love reading what famous or notable people answer. For instance, I tore out and saved the page featuring Wynton Marsalis’ answers and I smiled when I read his answer to “What or who is the greatest love of your life?” He said, “The Blues. (It cost a lot to find her and much more to maintain our relationship.)” True that! I love blues music, too, and he had other interesting answers that made me consider the various ways we find inspiration.

Practicing Mindful Eating
January 28, 2012
I am in Washington DC attending the Center for Mind Body Medicine’s Advanced Training. I realized yesterday at lunch that I desire to practice mindful eating more often. The realization came to me as we were beginning lunch when the facilitator invited us to offer gratitude for the meal we were about to eat, and I had already gobbled down half my plate. I wondered in that moment why in the world I eat so fast. It has been a way of life for me as long as I remember, and I don’t enjoy almost always being the first one finished with a meal. Pay Attention to Your Words
January 21, 2012
I attended an interesting workshop at the Baton Rouge Unity Church a few weeks ago about Effective Communication facilitated by Charles Frost. I was surprised to learn about his belief that “Why” may be the most damaging word in the English language. Charles explained that the word “Why” often puts people on the defensive because of negative experiences they had as children. For example, they may have been asked “why did you do that?” Or they may have received responses to “why” questions like “because I said so.” He suggested replacing “Why” with “How is it possible”. Celebrate Life Every Day
January 17, 2012
I was reminded last week how critical it is to celebrate life every day and to show appreciation for all the wonderful people, places, and things we are blessed to experience in our lives. The reminder came when I attended the funeral of my cousin, Amy, who died of unknown causes suddenly last week. Amy was 39 years old, 7 years younger than me and way too young to die. I wasn’t close to Amy as an adult; however, we spent many holidays together at our grandparents’ house while we were growing up. Read the rest of this entry ?

Treasure Your Desires into the New Year
December 31, 2011
As 2012 dawns, I wish for everyone to experience more abundance, peace, love, and joy every day. I hope prosperity and peace increase for you individually, collectively through your communities, and around the world. I desire for us all to contribute more and more to making the world a better place by first creating our own inner peace, which will flow outward to everyone around us.
I was intrigued to recently learn two variations of the new year’s practice of releasing those things you desire to let go of and choosing what to bring forward into the new year. The details are different, but each variation focuses on identifying what’s working and what’s not working in your life so you can consciously create a new year filled with more joy. I prefer this practice to simply making resolutions because I believe letting go creates the space for new possibilities and opportunities, and focusing on our intentions is the first step to bringing what we desire into our lives. Every Day Begins Anew
December 26, 2011
With every rising of the sun
Think of your life as just begun.
- Ella Wheeler Wilcox
Before I went to sleep last night I reminded myself of the opportunity to create a better day upon my awakening. I experienced some Christmas blues yesterday and was writing about them in my journal last night when I remembered that what I focus my attention on grows. So I shifted my writing to gratitude and decided to wake up today with an attitude for a fresh start. Read the rest of this entry ?

Ford’s Theater, Washington, D.C.
December 1, 2011
This week I’m in Washington, D.C. for a conference for work. I haven’t visited this city since I was a teenager. It’s very, very different from what I remember, and yet, the same. I haven’t had a lot of time to do much sight-seeing, but tonight I went to a play at Ford’s Theater. Read the rest of this entry ?

Fruition
November 26, 2011When I started a confidential project back in the summer, it seemed easy enough. It was a writing project, and about a subject in which I’m fairly versed. Yet as I got into it, it really required a lot of Read the rest of this entry ?

My Favorite Holiday
November 24, 2011I am excited my favorite holiday has arrived! I have always loved Thanksgiving because it celebrates gratitude and family gatherings, it falls on the same day of the week every year giving me four days away from work without question, and it doesn’t include the consumer craze of Christmas. There are no expectations of things getting accomplished the next few days except eating, relaxing, enjoying time with family, watching football, and shopping. I don’t typically participate in the Thanksgiving weekend shopping frenzy; however, I was excited to hear that American Express is promoting shopping at small businesses on Saturday so I will likely participate in that since supporting local businesses is my preference.
