Yesterday I experienced an amazing day with my adventures turning out more incredible than I could have imagined. I spent the morning in New Orleans with an inspector at the house I am buying, and the inspection went really well. I confirmed that the house is solid and in wonderful condition, which is a real treat to learn about an 80-year old house. The inspector was the perfect guy for the job. He explained everything I had questions about, and I learned lots of information from him about the history of that kind of house and about the neighborhood. I was exuberant when we left the inspection because I had a deep sense of knowing that this was the right house for me. Read the rest of this entry ?

A New e-Book from 3 Shared Paths!
October 20, 2011
Carolee, Rebecca and I have been talking about trying our hand at writing a book together almost from the first day we started this blog. We tossed around several ideas over the last year or so. We knew whatever we wrote we wanted it to be informative and hopefully inspirational. And we knew we wanted it to be a free download. So, as we talked about what to do to commemorate our second anniversary, we decided the time had come to write our first e-book together.
From that discussion emerged the e-book that is currently available on our site as a free download: How to Build a Collaborative Blog: The Journey of 3 Shared Paths. Read the rest of this entry ?

Identifying Elements of Motivation
October 18, 2011Carolee, Cathy and I have been busy working on the final edit of 3 Shared Paths’ first e-book. We plan to release it this week and it’s very exciting! Bringing the project to fruition has taken a lot of effort but it doesn’t feel like work to me.
I started evaluating what I’m enjoying about this book project. I like creating something tangible and I prefer to create with a partner or a group, rather than alone. I enjoy writing and I like knowing this project might help others. The same elements that motivate me to continue writing and managing this blog.

Big Adventures and Courage
October 11, 2011“Don’t be afraid to change. You may lose something good, but you may gain something even better.” – Leslie Esdaile
Nine years ago today I left for a Peace Corps assignment and I won’t lie, it was daunting but exciting to make this change. I didn’t know how it could help me grow personally but I was certain it would. I didn’t realize I needed to learn greater flexibility and patience and would practice it often. I just knew I wanted to meet different people and gain a deeper understanding of another culture. Living with a family there was the most challenging and rewarding of this big adventure. It was a rich, complex experience that tested my courage and introduced possibilities I continue to contemplate.

A Dissident Daughter
September 12, 2011In The Dance of the Dissident Daughter Sue Monk Kidd describes her journey of embracing the sacred feminine – recognizing the feminine aspect of God in fullness of divinity, not as a secondary aspect.
She comes to believe that, “exclusive male imagery of the divine not only instilled an imbalance within human consciousness, it legitimized patriarchal power in the culture at large.” She examines this from her own perspective and includes references from scholars and other writers. She embraces the vision to restore dignity, value and power to women that a patriarchal society tends to diminish consistently and subtly. Read the rest of this entry ?

The Park Supports My Well-being
September 10, 2011
As I sit eating lunch in the park near my office, I am grateful for all the experiences I’ve had here and that this place holds so many memories. I used to live near here and take walks through the neighborhood, which is how I first learned about the park. Once I discovered it, I started coming here for calls with my first coach Cookie because it was a close place to escape from my office.

Advice for Friends
September 8, 2011I recently ran across Scott Grossberg’s blog. It’s an incredibly positive and affirming blog. Most recently it was about giving advice to friends, only it had a twist (click the link above to read the actual blog post.).
The blog asked that the reader think of 5 friends and then write down what advice you’d give each friend that would make their lives better. So, I wrote the following: Read the rest of this entry ?
