Feedback I’ve received recently about people’s lives being transformed has made my heart sing. I am so excited to hear how the Heal Your Life and mind-body skills work, which I have been so inspired by, is making such huge differences in people’s lives. When I hear stories of people feeling like they have a new life from implementing the relatively easy tools I share in my workshops and coaching, I am inspired to keep following my heart and doing the work I love, which doesn’t even feel like work. Access Your Intuition with Drawings
February 18, 2012
One of my favorite mind-body skills is drawings. I have had so much fun learning and practicing this skill. I wrote about my first experience with drawings last summer when I attended The Gulf Coast Community Day sponsored by the Mind-Center of Louisiana. I have treasured the drawing I did that day and keep it in the plastic cover of my binder from the first training I attended in October. The drawing (shown in the photo) inspires me every time I look at it. Read the rest of this entry ?

Practicing Mindful Eating
January 28, 2012
I am in Washington DC attending the Center for Mind Body Medicine’s Advanced Training. I realized yesterday at lunch that I desire to practice mindful eating more often. The realization came to me as we were beginning lunch when the facilitator invited us to offer gratitude for the meal we were about to eat, and I had already gobbled down half my plate. I wondered in that moment why in the world I eat so fast. It has been a way of life for me as long as I remember, and I don’t enjoy almost always being the first one finished with a meal. Finding Success in Failure Club
January 16, 2012“Go after the things you’ve dreamed of but were afraid to try.” –Morgan Spurlock describing the purpose of “Failure Club.” (Spurlock made the documentary “Super Size Me.” )
Failure Club on Yahoo’s Yscreen follows seven people as they move toward fulfilling long-held dreams over the course of a year. The goal of Failure Club is to strip away the notion that failure is wrong. Phillip Kirakofe, creator of Failure Club, coaches people through their fear of failure and helps them identify what is stopping them. “Success is what people settle for when they are afraid to fail at something that is truly life defining,” Kirakofe says. Motivation and Follow-Through
January 6, 2012Paths clear for those who know where they’re going and are determined to get there. ― Anonymous
Seeing this quote at the beginning of 2012 is just what I needed to remind me that when I’ve been passionate about what I want and focus on it, the way has opened. Lately I’ve been spinning my wheels on a few goals and this made me step back and review my stumbling. Am I going for what I really want? If so, am I determined in my actions?
As I pondered my motivation, I came across this blog post by Peter Bregman at HBR: “Your Problem Isn’t Motivation.” Aha! The challenge isn’t motivation, it’s follow-through, Bregman points out. Read the rest of this entry ?

Treasure Your Desires into the New Year
December 31, 2011
As 2012 dawns, I wish for everyone to experience more abundance, peace, love, and joy every day. I hope prosperity and peace increase for you individually, collectively through your communities, and around the world. I desire for us all to contribute more and more to making the world a better place by first creating our own inner peace, which will flow outward to everyone around us.
I was intrigued to recently learn two variations of the new year’s practice of releasing those things you desire to let go of and choosing what to bring forward into the new year. The details are different, but each variation focuses on identifying what’s working and what’s not working in your life so you can consciously create a new year filled with more joy. I prefer this practice to simply making resolutions because I believe letting go creates the space for new possibilities and opportunities, and focusing on our intentions is the first step to bringing what we desire into our lives. Feeling Stuck?
December 5, 2011I have a couple of friends who are feeling really stuck in their lives right now. When I heard them explain how they felt, I told them about by Dr. James S. Gordon’s book Unstuck – Your Guide to the Seven-Stage Journey Out of Depression. I attended training in October with Dr. Gordon’s Center for Mind-Body Medicine, where I got to experience for myself some of the techniques he teaches for getting unstuck. Numerology
October 25, 2011I’ve been reading a lot about numerology recently. My life path number is 9. Much of what I read about the number 9 as a life path describes me. Life Path 9s are humanitarians, driven to make the world a better place. They express compassion and generosity. The New Age Blog says 9s like to travel and see new places. 9s are not motivated by material pursuits. Yep, that’s me. It also says 9s are poor detail people and that’s not true of me. However, what I’ve read on several sites does resonate with what motivates me. Of course, there were a few other numbers I could identify with, but 9 seemed apropos.
Here’s an example of how I’m a 9. I signed up to be an election commissioner and worked at my first polling site recently. Sure, I believe in supporting my community and doing my part. But my main motivation? I’d like to volunteer to be an election monitor for a country’s burgeoning democracy, like Tunisia recently experienced for their first election, and I need to demonstrate experience at being a poll worker in my own country. So I’m doing it for multiple reasons that uphold ideals I believe in.
But you may be asking: what can you do with numerology beyond reading your life path number? It also has a system for each personal year. Read the rest of this entry ?

Identifying Elements of Motivation
October 18, 2011Carolee, Cathy and I have been busy working on the final edit of 3 Shared Paths’ first e-book. We plan to release it this week and it’s very exciting! Bringing the project to fruition has taken a lot of effort but it doesn’t feel like work to me.
I started evaluating what I’m enjoying about this book project. I like creating something tangible and I prefer to create with a partner or a group, rather than alone. I enjoy writing and I like knowing this project might help others. The same elements that motivate me to continue writing and managing this blog.
