Ask Your Intuition

July 30, 2011
Question marks on the wall

For the last 30 days I have been participating in Michael Neill’s Creating the Impossible program (tentatively scheduled to occur again in October). One of my favorite exercises from the program is an intuition quiz to use for problem solving, which I know I will use in the future after experiencing the results. Michael explained that the method is from Lynn Robinson’s book Trust Your Gut: How the Power of Intuition Can Grow Your Business"" and goes like this (based on my notes): Read the rest of this entry ?

Checklist for Focus, Clarity

June 28, 2011

I’ve been reflecting and journaling on how my work and professional life can better reflect my passions and values. I’m using a list of questions that I believe came from iVillage’s iLearn courses that are no longer available online. Check out the list to see if it might be helpful to you, too.

My Focus List
-What am I trying to achieve?
-What makes me happy?
-What’s important to me? Read the rest of this entry ?

A Million Butterflies

June 15, 2011

The Holocaust Museum Houston is collecting 1.5 million handmade butterflies for a memorial to remember each of the children who lost their lives during the Holocaust.

Yesterday I spent a few hours with some great women in the H2O Creative Group who devoted their monthly meeting to crafting paper butterflies to send to the Museum for this project. I enjoyed the creativity of it and reflected on the loss and the lesson.

My Artist Date

June 6, 2011

performance artist at Jackson Square, New Orleans

I took myself on an artist date in New Orleans recently to spend a few hours feeding my creativity. I’m craving adventure and discovery of new places. The creator in me, my inner artist, needs more of it. Denying that and being stingy with myself does not serve me well.

Where did “we” go? First, to an exhibit at The Historic New Orleans Collection that focused on the influence of Spain in North and South America. Looking at old documents, paintings and maps — some of them 400 years old — helped me connect with exploration and think about the people who had the courage to discover something new. I considered the long-term impact our actions have on others. Am I doing my best to leave a positive legacy in some way?

Feng Shui for the New Moon

May 2, 2011

Today is the new moon. Via a blog post at Auntie Moon, I came across an interesting feng shui abundance ritual at Astro Feng Shui. This Taurus new moon is a great opportunity to plant seeds of abundance.

Saturday, I participated in a tree planting and it felt great to start the day planting a live oak that will hopefully grow big and provide lots of shade, food and shelter.

I also decided to repot a plant that I wanted to put in the wealth area of the house that also happens to be my bedroom. So this was the perfect time to work with the abundance ritual at the Astro Feng Shui site.  You can check it out here. Read the rest of this entry ?

I love myself, therefore

February 3, 2011

One of my favorite Louise Hay exercises is to complete this sentence as many time as possible: “I love myself, therefore…” I especially like to do this one when I’m feeling down to give me some ideas about how I can pick myself up. It is also a helpful exercise when developing goals or recommitting to your self-care practices. Here are some of mine…

I love myself, therefore I get plenty of rest.

I love myself, therefore I treat myself to massages.

I love myself, therefore I eat nourishing food and take my vitamins.

I love myself, therefore I move my body and stay active.

I love myself, therefore I take breaks often to rest my mind and body and nurture my spirit.

I love myself, therefore I share my love with everyone else.

I love myself, therefore I strive for peace and harmony.

I love myself, therefore I do work that I love and have more fun.

What actions can you take to love yourself more? As we love and nurture ourselves, I believe we affect all the people around us in positive ways and contribute to healing the world.

Healing and the Placebo Effect

January 25, 2011

Healing seems to be a theme in my life in January. I started the month writing a few posts about it and my aunt is in the hospital healing a health issue. A friend asked me for some information on alternative healing practices to share with someone she knows facing a serious diagnosis. I’ve been thinking a lot about self-healing.

One of the things that I’ve looked into and used is EFT, Emotional Frequency Techniques. Carolee mentioned it last year and I checked out websites and YouTube videos demonstrating it. You can check it out for yourself by searching for it or watch this video for an explanation  or watch this video for a demonstration. Read the rest of this entry ?

Visualize the Best Year of Your Life!

January 18, 2011

I focused my first Heal Your Life Workshop for 2011 on Visualize the Best Year of Your Life!  A wonderful group spent last Tuesday evening with me sharing our goals and dreams for the year, talking about the power of visualization and how to use this technique to create more of what we desire this year, and creating vision albums with pictures and words illustrating how our year will unfold as we focus our energy on our vision. I thought I would share some tidbits from the workshop in case you would like to join the fun! Read the rest of this entry ?

More Reflection on Healing

January 12, 2011

Since writing a post about my recent energy healing session, or maybe because of that reflection, I realize there has been a shift in a key area of my life. I have lost weight by committing to eating better and eating less. This time it seems much easier for me to make these changes.

The shift started after attending Carolee’s “Embrace Your Self and Heal Your Life” workshop, a two-day workshop that offered exercises to identify some key issues of fear and disappointment that led to more insight into areas of my life that needed healing. I came away from the workshop feeling much more in-tune with changes I wanted to make. Feeling healthy was one of the areas I focused on and in mid-October I began eating differently. I lost weight and increased my energy level, mainly because I am giving my body more nutrients and eating less processed food. I am committed to getting more sleep and affirming a healthy attitude. My Recent Energy Healing Session

January 8, 2011

A month ago, I had an energy healing session with Debbie Couvillion and it was quite interesting. We did this session at the start of what became a very busy three weeks for me, full of changes and lots of physical demands, like completing a move to a new home. Looking back now, I was a little more serene and patient than I might have been and I continue to feel a renewed perspective.

I met Debbie at a social event and we quickly realized a mutual interest in personal growth and spiritual healing work. I am fascinated by her personal journey, which you can read at her website, GPS for the Soul.  A friend had mentioned Debbie to me months before so it was intriguing to meet her in this random way.  As I got to know Debbie, I wanted to experience her healing work so we arranged a session in early December.
