Following in Rebecca’s vein, I hereby give you permission to take some time off, or just to take some time for yourself! You are free to get out or stay in whichever one entails taking care of yourself, and your needs. Where ever you work, the place won’t fold because you’re not there for a day. Whatever your family life, there is a way to find time to yourself. Unplug from the computer, lock the door, turn your cell phone off – take some time OFF. It’s yours to take!

Falling Back An Hour

November 17, 2011

The time change or the “fall back” an hour recently happened.  We’re all trying to get adjusted to darkness falling sooner.  I hear people complain about it a lot.  But, I Read the rest of this entry ?

Struggling with Parental Aging

October 13, 2011

My dad has been in and out of the hospital over the last 10 days.  It’s not a life threatening issue, but it has raised some considerations for me about my parents’ mortality.  And I have to say I’m struggling with it.  Read the rest of this entry ?

Do Cat’s Temperaments Reflect Our Own?

September 29, 2011

Menzie

Cats have their own unique personalities, much like people do.  Some are chatters, some are moaners, some whine, others don’t talk at all.  Some are affectionate, and some prefer to demand attention on their own terms.  Not unlike their humans.

Cats are also animals of imitation.  They will mimic the behavior of their human.  I once had a cat that would Read the rest of this entry ?

Dark of the moon.  Maybe when you think about it, you think of the Transformers movie, or Pink Floyd (depending on your age, obviously).  Perhaps it makes you think of dark rituals performed for bad purposes.  When I think about the dark of the moon, I think about Read the rest of this entry ?

Autumn Equinox Brings Awareness of Balance

September 23, 2011

Today is the autumn equinox, when days and nights are the same length. Mother Nature is showing us balance in this brief moment of moving from longer days to longer nights. I love Fall for cooler temperatures that break the heat and the profusion of color in the tree leaves. It’s a mirror reflection of Spring. I like sensing the gentle reminder of moderation and life’s beauty. Read the rest of this entry ?

The Park Supports My Well-being

September 10, 2011

As I sit eating lunch in the park near my office, I am grateful for all the experiences I’ve had here and that this place holds so many memories. I used to live near here and take walks through the neighborhood, which is how I first learned about the park. Once I discovered it, I started coming here for calls with my first coach Cookie because it was a close place to escape from my office.

Rain is Necessary for my Optimum Well-being

September 2, 2011

There are those who become depressed when it rains, but I need rain.  It’s been quite some time since we’ve had good rain here in Nashville.  We’ve had sunshine, heat and humidity, but no rain to speak of.  I enjoy sun as much as anyone, but there comes a point where I just need overcast and rainy days.  That’s the point I’m at now.  Read the rest of this entry ?

My Travel Totem

August 31, 2011

In 2000 I bought a blue pashmina shawl to take on a trip to Europe to visit my sister and her family. It was a popular fashion item at the time and I wanted something for cool evenings to dress-up the few outfits I planned to take on the trip. I didn’t know then how this pashmina would become a travel staple and represent many wonderful trips to come.
