The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron
Catherine’s comments:
I found this book incredibly enlightening. It helped me identify some of the things that had held me hostage in general in my life. Some of the chapters were hard to get through, but worth the effort.
Rebecca’s comments:
I love this book! It was my first introduction to using vision boards. It encouraged me to go on “artist’s dates” to feed my creativity. I still use the term “crazymaker” to recognize people who might be affecting my joy for life. There are lots of tools in this workbook that will help anyone get in touch with her inner artist, writer, quilter, scrapbooker, decorator — whatever you do to manifest creativity in your life. It’s a commitment that I’ve started 3 times and finished once but I know I will go back to the process again because it is nurturing. Carolee’s comments:
I learned some insightful new tools from this book, which was incredibly inspiring to me. Julia showed me how to get in touch with my creativity in a big way. The exercises that really worked for me are the morning pages (free writing 3 pages daily) and the artist’s dates (choosing artistic excursions or activities just for yourself to fuel creativity), and I especially enjoyed working through the book with a group of friends. Checking in with them on a regular basis kept me motivated and inspired, and I always loved hearing about their adventures and learnings. The book also got me more in tune with synchronicities happening my life.
I credit The Artist’s Way with inspiring my inner wisdom to come through in a profound way, shaping my future and laying the groundwork for my current career path to share my insights and inspire others on their personal growth journey; and I look forward to facilitating an Artist’s Way group soon.
